On 19 June 2007 His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, set forth the creation of the world's largest greenfield port development. This QAR 26 Billion megaproject will span 26.5 square kilometers, be one of the world’s deepest seaports and is an important element of the key objectives set forward in the Qatar National Vision 2030.
